Our primary goal at Berkeley Prosthodontics and General Dentistry is to be an advocate for your oral and dental health by helping you establish and maintain a healthy, functional, and attractive smile. Both of our highly skilled dentists, Dr. Curtis and Dr. Au, provide high-quality dental services to help you restore and maintain dentition, treat dental ailments, and bring a problematic smile back to full health.
Even so, our preference is that you never have to face complex dental problems in the first place. Our general dentistry services are designed to support optimal oral health by preventing disease and decay (caries) from damaging your teeth and gums.
These services tie all of your oral healthcare needs together. We focus on preventive services like dental cleanings, routine exams, and fluoride applications that help you enjoy a disease-free smile. And if we identify a problem that requires restoration, Dr. Au is specially trained to provide you with high-quality prosthodontic services to regain your oral health.
If your goal is to spend as little time as possible in the dental chair, routine professional exams are essential. Routine exams are one of the foundations for a healthy smile.
During your semi-annual diagnostic checkups, we review the condition of your teeth and gums, note any changes since your last visit, and identify and resolve dental conditions while they are easily treatable.
Thorough periodic cleanings by our skilled hygienist go hand-in-hand with dental exams. During your cleaning, we check to ensure that your gums are healthy and free of periodontal concerns. If we find that disease is present, our hygienist is trained to develop a personalized treatment plan for you to eliminate disease and maintain the healthy results.
In addition to obtaining her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree (DDS), Dr. Amy Au completed a three-year prosthodontic residency at University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry. This experience qualifies her as an expert to whom you can turn when you have a damaged or missing tooth. Other dentists can perform some of these treatments, but a prosthodontist is a specialist dedicated to this type of care.
If we find that you need tooth restoration or replacement, you can be confident knowing you are in the hands of an expert in the field. We will help you understand what our concerns are and why treatment may be needed. Our dentists will consult with you throughout the process to ensure excellent results that meet your expectations.
In certain cases, we may refer you to one of our trusted colleagues for appropriate treatment. We work with a small network of the most qualified oral surgeons, orthodontists, endodontists, periodontists, and other specialists in the Berkeley area to ensure that you receive high-quality care that fits your needs.
