Announcement from Berkeley Prosthodontics (updated April 2, 2020):
NOTICE OF TEMPORARY CLOSURE

Dear Berkeley Prosthodontics Patients,

In light of the evolving pandemic and strong suggestions by public health officials, we have made the difficult decision to temporarily close our practice from March 16, 2020 to May 3, 2020. We do not make this decision lightly, however our top priority is the health and well-being of our patients, families, staff and community. If you have an appointment scheduled with us during those weeks, our office will be in touch to help reschedule your appointment. In the case of emergency situations, we WILL have a dentist on call.

If you need emergency dental care, please call Dr. Au’s emergency dental line at 1-925-529-4704.

We will continue to monitor the situation as it evolves and the guidance from the county, state and the CDC. For now, we will determine on a weekly basis when it is appropriate for us to return to our normal business hours.

Again, please understand that we are making this decision with the health and well-being of our patients, our families, our team and our community in mind.
We thank you for your patience during this challenging time and wish all of you continued health.

Sincerely,
Amy Au, Barbara Curtis, and the Berkeley Prosthodontics Dental Team

Placed New Implant Crowns and Bridges to Repair the Previously Damaged Natural Tooth Retained Bridge

After the patient’s previous bridge started failing and giving him gum and chewing problems, we were able to restore the area with new crown and bridgework, supported on 3 implants.

Dental Implants
She is a miracle worker

Over the decades I have been treated by a number of dentists, endodontists and periodontists both here and abroad. Some good others not so. A couple of years ago I needed several implants. Because of the high cost, I explored the international options in Hungary and Thailand and Costa Rica. Local dental implant practices seemed expensive and overbooked until I stumbled upon Dr. Amy Au of Berkeley Prosthodontics through google.

With angst and trepidation I went to see her and discovered the absolute best dentist right here in my own backyard in Berkeley. I have had 3 successful implants so far and have found Dr. Amy to be extremely competent, professional and devoted to her patients. She has made room in her schedule to see me immediately when I broke one tooth and another time when I needed an urgent extraction. And she has taken the time to do things right. She has a wonderful bedside manner and a positive outlook which has created a welcoming office atmosphere and responsive staff. She has even phoned me after a few of the more complicated procedures to make sure all is OK.

She practices conservative medicine: using pre-surgery antibiotics to prevent infection; and allowing ample time between extraction/bone graft and implant placement and crown to allow for full healing and bone strength. Many implant practitioners advertise single day treatments. Think slow cooking vs. fast food. Her exacting prosthetic skills have led me to comment that she is a miracle worker.

Her office even has free and easy parking access. On top of all that, her charges are reasonable and she is meticulous in describing costs and options beforehand. I almost never give reviews, only for the very good and the very bad. This one is very good.

In short, I am so pleased to have found Dr. Amy and will continue to use her practice for all of my dental needs, not just implants. So if you are as nervous about implants as I was, give her a try. You will be glad you did.
