In the past, metal fillings were used to fill in cavities and to prevent dental decay. With modern technology, there is a different way to prevent tooth decay that blends with your natural teeth.
Tooth-colored fillings, or composite-resin restorations, are aesthetic, direct restorations, meaning they can be part of a one-visit service. Composite restorations look like teeth, unlike a silver amalgam restoration, and allow more conservative tooth preparation prior to a filling, so more natural tooth is preserved with composite, tooth-colored fillings.
